Good morning all. Welcome to my desk.

As you can see my art director is making sure that I’m staying on track with my DLP projects. This is the beginning of Gelli Plate “a lot on my plate”.  I plan to work on this on the plane later today.

I also wanted to share the completed items from last week’s Lifebook class. I showed you the backgrounds for the 5/10/15 minute challenge and here are the completed works. The first one has a southwestern flair, the second one is so me, and the third is my dark primitive image. (I understand that some people can see a hedgehog here. Hey Marit)

WOYWW 305

Welcome to my WOYWW (What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday). Actually it is Tuesday evening, but I’ve been such a busy girl I just couldn’t wait.

State of my desk after working on this week’s Lifebook 2015 lesson today. Wow. I still have some details to finish off, after all It’s all about the little things. Really pleased with my face (mind you she looks rather hard core to me, would definitely be a survivor on TWD) and the floral stem. I had problems spraying through a stencil and it just looked wrong. So I will be putting together a 3D short fascinator to make me happy. I used some of my gelli plate deli sheets. And had such fun while Newton and Socrates cuddled for the entire time I was playing.

I was incredibly productive this weekend finishing off a number of WIP. Hope you enjoy them.

The first 3 are Documented Life Project from the last few weeks. An Arizona night sky inspiration, a collage of things I have made myself, and a salty water under the musical bridge watercolor.

The next one is from Lifebook. So glad this was our second lesson on feathers. I love drawing them.

WOYWW 304

Hello out there and welcome to April. No jokes, but lots of fun as we EXPLORE WOYWW (what’s on your workdesk wednesday).  To hop along around the globe check out the lovely Julia’s Stamping Ground site for lots of creativity.

A peak at my desk shows I’m definitely busy in a happy way:

  • Top 2 items are WIP one for Lifebook (light blue and green for feathers) and the other for DLP (dark moody Payne’s Gray and deep blue for focus Arizona landscape). Started with the backgrounds and planning on tackling them today or tomorrow
  • OWL: bottom left is the Wise Old Owl that I started last week (Lifebook). Really really happy with this. you might not be able to see all of the glitter, but it is definitely there. (close up below)
  • CREATE: from an art journaling workshop I attended on Saturday. Not my usual palette but that okay. Lots of layers including hemp for the stems. Still needs some doodling and the word timeless needs to be there. Second time using crackle paint, still need practice (close up below).

WOYWW 297

After what seems like forever, I’m back and jumping right in to WOYWW (what’s on your workdesk Wednesday) blog hop. (WOYWW you ask? Check out the gang at Stamping Ground for a worldwide tour of creative desks today.)

January was an extremely busy month at Casa Tavi, what with celebrating my 60th birthday in Maui (absolutely fabulous), having the entire interior of our home in AZ painted (while living in residence and corralling cats on a daily basis), getting all the carpets cleaned (they will be back to do the tile) and working on remaining calm while everything around us was in a turmoil. AHHHH to have our house back to “normal”, well almost. Still have to hang pictures, but at least we can walk through the house without doing a serpentine maneuver.

So today I can actually share what is on my desk (stuff and supplies still being reassembled).

2015-02-11 10.33.30

My desk ready for a day of EXPLORING. Still need to do something about the lighting, and I was so glad that I had grabbed my “essential” supplies so that I could continue to be creative during the disruption.

A closeup of what is planned for today. From the left:

  1. Artfully Inspired Life: finish off January with SPARKS flying. I am waiting on a delivery for my new Parallel Pilot Pens to begin February with PASSION.
  2. Mixing It Up FB group January swap: Tag and ATC received from a new FB friend. I sent off my first Tag and ATC and our lovely coordinator for the month mixed us up. Wow, such love. Getting ready for the February Monthly Challenge, what do you love?
  3. Documented Life Project: Black Gesso. I had started this at the beginning of January and then decided to put it aside. Some of the weeks are already done, and I decided that I don’t have to do everything. More to show next week.
  4. LifeBook: Getting ready to do another amazing lesson with Tam. I think I am ready for the Affirmation Feather. yeah.

It is so great to get back to being able to make something beautiful every day. Cats are adjusting pretty well. Socrates has his “spot” and Newton has less access to plastic chewing attractions. He still lets me know when it is time for dinner starting at 4:25 pm.  Looking forward to hopping around the blogs today and tomorrow. Have a fabulous day!

WOYWW 287

WOYWW What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday, actually seems to be the beginning of my creative week. I am one of many who join in on the blog hop each week to peek into other lands and creative minds. Making new pals and getting lots of inspiration.

Hamsa Mandala

I am finishing up a very fun Mandala Magic workshop with Julie Gibbons. The Hamsa circle frames the basis of my own hand. I did the rough sketch and now I’m ready for the fun part. As part of her work she provides a mandala personality assessment, and no surprize the colours I am generally attracted to appear. So for my large SMASH book, I decorated the front with Sharpies in appropriate hues.

Next up will be the December challenge “Ink blotting” with the lovely Jennibellie. Promise to show you the results next week. Fun, fun, fun.

My favorite thing this week

OMG the Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Watersoluble wax pastels, (and of course liquid pearls) gives me the freedom of spirit to really play. Not as messy as somethings, (especially when the Newton is not sleeping) I feel like that wonderful grade two art girl.  Hurrah.

WOYWW 284

I’m taking part in my second  WOYWW (what’s on you workdesk Wednesday) desk hop today. In case you’re wondering what it’s all about, just follow this link to the Stamping Ground. This is what my desk looked like this morning.

20141112_102558

A glimmer of an idea on being thankful for, yes, coffee. I had this page in my SMASH book and I knew I had to do something special with my Gelly Roll Moonlight (luminous best on dark paper) pens. I was also playing with chip board letters, a new stencil, Distress paints, Candy Rock glitter and Silk glaze. (ohhh ahhhh) And I had cut out the coffee mug just last week knowing it was speaking to me.

2014-11-12 13.53.09

When finished I added a real cinnamon stick just for fun. I am thankful for many things in my life, and today I was thinking about drinking coffee as an activity that goes with the people, pets and pursuits I am thankful for. I don’t know if you can see the glitter in the modeling paste to provide real dimension for the whipped cream.

Oh yes, the other item on my desk this morning was Socrates. He may slow me down, but then I was enjoying a cup of coffee at the time.
