WOYWW 354

Another day, another WOYWW (What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday). So here is my desk, at the ready. I am in the midst of a couple of projects as you can see.

Kitties galore

Kitties galore

  • I have tried image transfer a couple of times with mixed results. The top journal is for Journal 52 and my favorite pet(s). Newton is almost finished, and I have a nice range of Orange Posca pens to work on Socrates. I haven’t decided exactly what to do in the background yet. I know that there will be dimensional whiskers as a final touch.
  • The bottom right is for Wanderlust. The idea is to use a very different palette from what is expected. I immediately thought of Andy Warhol as the inspiration for my extra images of the cats. Looking forward to going wild, again I think I’ll be using my newly acquired Posca pens.
  • And continuing on with faces, the bottom left is from this week’s bonus lesson at LifebookAngela Kennedy’s lesson did a simple face using a Stabilo All pencil, and water. Rather than using pastels to add a wee bit of color, I have selected some of my Gelatos to play with.

For additional creativity around the world check out Julia’s Stamping Ground blog.  And have a very happy WOYWW.

Looks like I will be waiting for nap time to get my creative groove on today as I have two wide awake kitties visiting right off the bat.

My desk

My desk sans chats

A wide range of activity. Starting from the back row:

  • “Only through ART can we EMERGE from ourselves and know what another person sees.” Marcel Proust. My ballet girl is spreading her wings as there were “bonus points” for incorporating a cocoon into your piece this week in Journal 52. Experimenting with Fineline Applicators. Standard tip now has my Glossy Accents and I couldn’t be happier with the result. The Fine tip now has most of my Golden Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic with H2O.  A bit of smudging happened. OOPS so I went wild with my DR Pearlescent Liquid Acrylic.
  • Just hanging out in my Wanderlust small journal. Distress Spray Stains and my new Crayola friends, Trip, Edge and Archie. See picture at end of post. These are so cool and relatively inexpensive.
  • Lifebook Lessons are the bulk of my plans for the day.
    • I think I have finished the Jar with pink and purple flowers in it. A Vessel Full of Tenderness with Pauline Agnew
    • Almost done with the blue Praise for the Present from Mary Beth Shaw. Need to incorporate my words and add some additional “me” embellishments.
    • Ah, faces.  Groan. I just listened to Tam’s lesson for this week on grounding. It was really good, excellent in fact. I think I will definitely need to get into a faces zone and work on a couple of different lessons at the same time. The instructor is strong, but the student still needs practice, practice, practice.

WOYWW 344 Happy New Year

I’m back. After a very long absence from WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday) I am thrilled to begin the new year with the wonderful and creative desks from around the world. Thank you so much Julia from Stamping Ground for keeping this going for so long.

So here was my desk on January 1st.

OMG where to start

OMG where to start

And here is my desk this morning.

Ready to roll

Ready to roll

My word for the year is ENJOY and I am planning on participating in a number of year long projects. Starting in the front row…

  • My keep my self organized lovely purple journal: I know I can keep things on my computer but my lifestyle and my memory really need a hard copy version of everything I am working on. Oh so organized for 2016 will definitely let me enjoy my life.
  • Carolyn Dube A Colorful Journey and Permission to Play: I am part way through permission to play, which is the colorful cardboard pieces. And for the monthly challenge we are supposed to create art from something we were going to throw away.
  • Jane Davenport classes: Draw Happy, Supplies Me and Miss Quoted. Just started on these and will devote a lovely Strathmore Mixed Media 500 series small hardbound journal for playing here.
  • Wanderlust: The Strathmore Mixed Media 300 series small wire bound journal is at the ready for the adventure that awaits here.
  • Journal 52: The amazing Effy Wild and cohort in crime  Sarah Trumpp will be conducting us through 2 prompts each week. This is totally free and absolutely amazing. You see my work ENJOY as my first spread.
  • Artfully Inspired Life : the ever awesome and absolutely fabulous Joanne Sharpe classes are the pile of composition books and Strathmore 500 hard cover Mixed Media journals.
  • Lifebook: The crowning glory of my Lifebook 2015 experience. I have about 9 more projects  to complete. I have them all downloaded and now I can pick and choose to add to my beautiful book. See other page for a flip thru if you are interested. And of course I’m enrolled again this year.

So that’s my plan for the year. Ambitious, perhaps, but I feel so much less stress going into 2016. Last year was definitely moving up my learning curve and this year I am ready. So ready. To really ENJOY my artistic life to the fullest. And WOYWW is going to be a part of this. Oh yes and I think Newton may have something to say along the way.

Good morning all. Welcome to my desk.

As you can see my art director is making sure that I’m staying on track with my DLP projects. This is the beginning of Gelli Plate “a lot on my plate”.  I plan to work on this on the plane later today.

I also wanted to share the completed items from last week’s Lifebook class. I showed you the backgrounds for the 5/10/15 minute challenge and here are the completed works. The first one has a southwestern flair, the second one is so me, and the third is my dark primitive image. (I understand that some people can see a hedgehog here. Hey Marit)

A gracious good morning fellow crafters. Thanks for stopping by to see what kind of er mess my desk is starting out as today.

15/10/5

15/10/5

Yesterday I started the 15/10/5 challenge for Lifebook . The idea is that we were supposed to be focused on just our art for 15/10/5 minutes. Well that worked well for me, except I essentially finished 3 backgrounds. Pretty good I guess. So today I plan to finish off the details without the stop watch at the ready. I used my newly acquired discontinued Adirondack acrylic paint dabbers and my Neocolor II crayons on three different substrates. From the left:

  • 15: Watercolor paper with earthtone colors listening to Epic soundtracks. Very dark for me. But as I worked a strange face emerged. I have been binge watching Supernatural lately, so this is no surprise. I plan on using my white pen collection to add crazy details.
  • 10: Backing from printed scrapbook paper with a variety of bright and light colors listening to Broadway tunes. This is definitely more my style. Had such fun messing with the background using my Artist Loft Academic Level Metallic White and whatever blue was on my recently used dabber. You can really see the brush strokes.  Adding a mixture of greens/teals/blues to the bottom and sunshine yellow for the “globes”. First time using Winsor & Newton Ink for accent. I definitely see happy faces and sparkle dust in it’s future.
  • 5: Thanksgiving Day card with a Southwest color scheme listening to smooth jazz. Copper and gold found their way onto this small 5×7 piece with Terra Cotta, Hazelnut and Phthalo Turquoise. I plan on adding a sentiment to the positive message peaking out from behind the paints.

My art director oversaw the action from on high.

WOYWW 302

A gracious good morning to you all.

With Newton, my snoopy assistant at the ready, my desk is set to go.

  1. March is for HOPE with Joanne Sharpe’s Artfully Inspired Life. Melissa and Andrew both have St. Patty’s dayish birthdays. Just need to finish lettering.
  2. Two-two-two weeks in one for DLP. Surviving the elements “It’s raining cats and dogs” is now the focal point for doodles and marking for Borderline. Really pleased with how this is turning out.
  3. Box of stuff.  Okay how do I keep things tidy. I have a box, or two, or three,  where I put things at the end of each day. Partially because everything needs a home otherwise Newton is into it, chewing it, or sitting on it. He ended up with a blue glitter tail yesterday. Looks real innocent today, right?
