SMASHING Into The Woods

SMASHing weekend

SMASHing weekend

Michael and I spent the weekend in Beverly Hills to see the OSF production of Into the Woods at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Yes I did see it 5 times this summer, and even got to be a brown cow on stage. Inside, on a much smaller stage, meant that everything was more intimate and crystal clear. Congratulations to everyone.  So what you see on my desk this week is my collection of memories to be SMASHed into my 2014 this is my life, smash book. Adhesive at the ready….

Current Projects

Last week I was working on two “challenges”.

The first was a Hamsa mandala from my class with the amazing Julie Gibbons. I used my “personality” mandala colors and a lot of circular imagery. According to a FB quiz today, I am 70% female/30% male in my “thinking”. This looks pretty feminine to me. I did not use glitter, (I really held back) but did use Liquid Pearls and Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Watersoluble pastels that I waxed on about last week. (tee hee)

The second was Ink blotting with Jennibellie. Quick and fun, I think I will add these pages to my now do something else with this pile of beautiful things. Basically add paint on one side of the page and then slap them together Rorschach like.

My Favorite Thing this Week

Shopping! While in BH we stopped by the Farmer’s Market and a newly discovered employee-owned, Artist & Craftsman Supply store.  You might call it crafters’ seventh heaven.

WOYWW What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday, actually seems to be the beginning of my creative week. I am one of many who join in on the blog hop each week to peek into other lands and creative minds. Making new pals and getting lots of inspiration.

Hamsa Mandala

I am finishing up a very fun Mandala Magic workshop with Julie Gibbons. The Hamsa circle frames the basis of my own hand. I did the rough sketch and now I’m ready for the fun part. As part of her work she provides a mandala personality assessment, and no surprize the colours I am generally attracted to appear. So for my large SMASH book, I decorated the front with Sharpies in appropriate hues.

Next up will be the December challenge “Ink blotting” with the lovely Jennibellie. Promise to show you the results next week. Fun, fun, fun.

My favorite thing this week

OMG the Caran d’Ache Neocolor II Watersoluble wax pastels, (and of course liquid pearls) gives me the freedom of spirit to really play. Not as messy as somethings, (especially when the Newton is not sleeping) I feel like that wonderful grade two art girl.  Hurrah.
