WOYWW 362

So it is really Tuesday night, but I had  a major nap this afternoon and have been cat free for hours.  Sooooo I was able to finish up some major pieces and I am happy to share with WOYWW (What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday) lovelies. Again a gracious thank you to the amazing Julia at Stamping Ground who orchestrates this exchange.

LIFEBOOK (from left to right)

  • WEEK 15: You story matters; the ripple effect. Finally figured out what it needed. Heidi Swapp Color Shine. This started out as the shaving cream exercise from a couple of weeks ago.
  • WEEK 10: Praise for the Present. Again this is a detailed adventure with many many many layers. When I started this a couple of weeks ago I was thinking about how wonderful friends are. A real art journal page with hidden messages and oh such lovely drippage.
  • WEEK 13: Layers of love. Once I finally had a chance to sit down with this one it was truly a love fest. I’m not quite finished, and again I lost track of the number of layers. My inspiration was the new acquisition of Florescent Orange High Flow Golden acrylic.

WANDERLUST

And I am very pleased to share my texture extravaganza based on my neighbor’s backyard. WOW oh WOW. My husband even thinks this should be framed rather than “going on the fridge”. Actually I think you can see the degree of sparkle, glitter and puffy paint I used. So very proud of my clouds. I learned so much from doing this piece.

WOYWW 358/359

Big plans for the next couple of days on my Workspace. Well that was last week and my volunteer activities basically took over my life. So here is where I started and what I finished…

Yes I’m back to participate in WOYWW with the fabulous Julia at Stamping Ground and all of the other creative lovelies around the world.  Today has been full of interruptions (Newton) and distractions (doing laundry) and other mundane activities. So without a lot of fanfare here you go.

It was a dark and stormy night. … Happy WOYWW. Check out Stamping Ground for even more colorful delights from around the world.

my desk is black

So today I’m all dressed in black as I start working on two projects.

  • Life Book 2016 – Week 13 – Layers of Love with Rae Missigman, on the left is the beginning of much fun with layers and layers and layers of love
  • A Colorful Journey – Carolyn Dube – Hardware finds, on the right there are 2 pages of fine and very fine sandpaper painted black. I plan on pulling out my metallic and florescent gel pens and the like for a kindergarten inspired garden.

I did want to share with you something I finished up earlier this week.

  • Wanderlust – Week 12 – Flora Bowley – “Brave Intuitive Painting”. Wow such fun and I am working big and bold and planning on wall art for my studio. You probably can’t see the shimmer effects from the new Dylusions Mica Sprays, but they make me very happy. And later today I am supposed to be receiving a complete set of the new Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. Look out world.

WOYWW 354

Another day, another WOYWW (What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday). So here is my desk, at the ready. I am in the midst of a couple of projects as you can see.

Kitties galore

Kitties galore

  • I have tried image transfer a couple of times with mixed results. The top journal is for Journal 52 and my favorite pet(s). Newton is almost finished, and I have a nice range of Orange Posca pens to work on Socrates. I haven’t decided exactly what to do in the background yet. I know that there will be dimensional whiskers as a final touch.
  • The bottom right is for Wanderlust. The idea is to use a very different palette from what is expected. I immediately thought of Andy Warhol as the inspiration for my extra images of the cats. Looking forward to going wild, again I think I’ll be using my newly acquired Posca pens.
  • And continuing on with faces, the bottom left is from this week’s bonus lesson at LifebookAngela Kennedy’s lesson did a simple face using a Stabilo All pencil, and water. Rather than using pastels to add a wee bit of color, I have selected some of my Gelatos to play with.

For additional creativity around the world check out Julia’s Stamping Ground blog.  And have a very happy WOYWW.

Good  morning from my colorful workspace. It is WOYWW time again. For a tour of creative spaces around the globe follow the link to Julia’s Stamping Ground.

Looks like I will be waiting for nap time to get my creative groove on today as I have two wide awake kitties visiting right off the bat.

My desk

My desk sans chats

A wide range of activity. Starting from the back row:

  • “Only through ART can we EMERGE from ourselves and know what another person sees.” Marcel Proust. My ballet girl is spreading her wings as there were “bonus points” for incorporating a cocoon into your piece this week in Journal 52. Experimenting with Fineline Applicators. Standard tip now has my Glossy Accents and I couldn’t be happier with the result. The Fine tip now has most of my Golden Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic with H2O.  A bit of smudging happened. OOPS so I went wild with my DR Pearlescent Liquid Acrylic.
  • Just hanging out in my Wanderlust small journal. Distress Spray Stains and my new Crayola friends, Trip, Edge and Archie. See picture at end of post. These are so cool and relatively inexpensive.
  • Lifebook Lessons are the bulk of my plans for the day.
    • I think I have finished the Jar with pink and purple flowers in it. A Vessel Full of Tenderness with Pauline Agnew
    • Almost done with the blue Praise for the Present from Mary Beth Shaw. Need to incorporate my words and add some additional “me” embellishments.
    • Ah, faces.  Groan. I just listened to Tam’s lesson for this week on grounding. It was really good, excellent in fact. I think I will definitely need to get into a faces zone and work on a couple of different lessons at the same time. The instructor is strong, but the student still needs practice, practice, practice.

Good morning from sunny Arizona.

This is a shot of my desk right now. Not just focusing on the projects I am about to play with but a reasonably organized space. Happy WOYWW. (What’s on YOUR Workdesk Wednesday?)

My desk ready to go

My desk ready to go

It is interesting one’s life’s ebb and flow. Looks like for the next couple of months my busiest day  is the first Wednesday of the month.  And that also means that the end of the month holds my most creative opportunities. I was able to finish up a number of items that were languishing on my desk. So happy I wanted to share my ZIA butterfly from a January Lifebook Lesson and some lovely Joanne Sharpe inspired lettering.

Happy WOYWW (What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday). Not sure what this is, check out Julia’s page at Stamping Ground.

Today I am ready to go with a couple of projects, as you can see.

My workdesk

The large journal on the left is my Artfully Inspired Life book. I have just finished the alpha and mantra spreads with heART. I can see a definite improvement in my lettering thanks to the lovely Joanne Sharpe. Today I get to play with 29 hearts to make a place for things I love in February.

The smaller journal in the middle is for Journal 52 with Effy Wild and Sarah Trumpp. This is a free year long class with opposite prompts each week. I am glad I am using a small journal for this one, it seems to be working really well for me. This prompt is Beneath Your Feet and/or Above Your Head. I received a beautiful card from my mum this week and wanted to incorporate the flower girl into this spread. I feel pastel’s in my future. That will be something new for me.

And the cascade is the variety of WIP for Wanderlust and Lifebook.  Being ill for a couple of weeks and busy with my duties on our HOA Strategic and Capital Planning Committee (I’m coordinating our community survey), has put my creativity on hold or rather on pause or perhaps on canter… I can see that faces will be getting a lot of practice this year.

A couple of weeks ago I attended an all day workshop with the delightful Dina Wakely. Composition and random messiness ensued.

Reality check…

So this is my desk. WOW after being down and out for a couple of weeks with the crud (sort of like the flu but crappier) I’m just getting back up on my feet (or rather out of my pjs) and wondering where to start. Probably with another cup of coffee before wading in.  If you’d like to see the state of other creative desks around the world check out Julia’s Stamping Ground. Tea Time

Use something that would have been thrown away. Challenge Accepted.

So at the end of the day I gathered items from the recycle container. A couple of Kleenex boxes, my grocery list, smaller boxes, and the cardboard insert from our pizza dinner.

Items from the recycle bin

Items from the recycle bin

Wow I am so thrilled with the end result. I had no idea where I was going, but I knew I wanted to use the pizza round as my surface. Added Gesso and some favorite acrylic paints to get things going. Cut flowers and decorative items from the boxes, ripped up my list, and selected the 3 cups of tea from the Apriva box. You can’t see the dimension, however the short flower is placed on top of the seal from the new tube of adhesive, and the top flower has the “guck” from the top of the paint tube. I did add the tea bag cover this morning as a final touch. A bit of yellow sharpie decoration and then the quote, on a home made tag of course.
